A HOMELAND FOR WRITERS
We have over two hundred and fifty lifelong members and we are growing every year! As we grow, we acknowledge that we must support every Macondo’s sustainability as a space of intense artistic and cultural creativity, where writers, artists, thinkers, scholars, and critics come together to inspire and challenge one another towards social justice, change and literacy.
We recognize that now more than ever, the work and service we do through our writing and in our communities is vitally important. One of the most urgent conversations we are having as a board familia, right now, is reflecting on Macondo’s relationship to Black Lives Matter, and also reflecting on how we can improve our community’s actions and programming in ways that support Black lives and Black and Afro-Latinx writers.
